Virginia New Majority is proud to announce our early endorsements for the 2011 Virginia State Legislature elections.
For the Democratic Party Primaries on August 23rd, we are endorsing:
Jaime Areizaga-Soto, candidate for Senate District 31
Adam Ebbin, candidate for Senate District 30
Rick James, candidate for House District 90
Alfonso Lopez, candidate for House District 49
For the General Elections on November 8th, we are endorsing:
Esteban Garces, candidate for House District 2, and
David Marsden, candidate for Senate District 37
Each of these candidates reflect our vision for Virginia, in which all residents benefit from fairness, opportunity, and economic security. We are confident that they will build on the best of Virginia’s democratic traditions to help create a progressive future for our state. We endorse these candidates with the hope and expectation that, once in office, they will be champions of Virginia’s immigrant and African American communities, women, youth, LGBTQ communities, and working families in the legislature. They are all committed to creating a state government whose values, laws and policies best represent our changing demographics and our progressive aspirations. Each candidate further understands that our government is responsible for ensuring economic and social equality for all Virginians.
Virginia New Majority invited candidates in the above-mentioned races to participate in our endorsement process. They were sent a questionnaire and invited to complete the questionnaire and submit it to our Board of Directors for review. Those candidates that responded to our invitation were considered for endorsement. After concluding its deliberations, the Board decided to endorse these candidates. We expect to endorse just a few more candidates for different races over the next several weeks.
We are proud to endorse Jaime Areizaga-Soto, Adam Ebbin, David Marsden, Esteban Garces, Alfonso Lopez, and Rick James in this year’s election cycle. We expect great things from them during their campaigns and in their prospective legislative careers.
